About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Curriculum and Teaching Practice Division (CTPD) is responsible for developing and supporting schools to implement the department's teaching and learning policies and providing curriculum implementation guidance to Victorian government schools.
CTPD draws on contemporary research and practice evidence to develop evidence-based teaching and learning policy reforms, co-design and implement initiatives to support schools to deliver high-quality teaching programs. CTPD has primary responsibility for providing advice and implementation support to government schools to deliver the Victorian Curriculum.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join our team and play a key role in implementing Victoria's new approach to reading.
The department is offering new early years literacy assessments for government schools and exploring expanding this offering to provide assessment for upper primary and lower secondary. This supports the school system to align their teaching and learning to the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0) and Victorian approach to teaching reading.
We're seeking a part-time (0.8FTE) VPS4 Program Officer (until 5 March 2027) to support key corporate activities, including writing briefings, facilitating communications, and managing project deliverables. This role will involve working with other members of the unit to meet timelines over the next 6 months.
