The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU) is a business unit within the Security and Intelligence Division (SID) of CV. CVIU delivers intelligence services to decision makers across CV and its stakeholders in order to contribute to the security and good order of correctional facilities and support the effective management of offenders in the community. Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for CV. The CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the CVIU, and localised prison intelligence units located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria.
About the Role
As the Project Officer you will be managing a range of operational and strategic projects. The role operates within a complex and dynamic environment that requires the capacity to be well organised and deliver work within timeframes, along with the ability to liaise with staff and key stakeholders within and external to Corrections Victoria. You will be leading and developing appropriate governance and intelligence frameworks and producing high level reports. To be successful, you will be a strategic thinker with experience in managing complex projects.
Some of your duties will include:
- Contribute to the delivery of projects from concept design, development, transition and implementation including the preparation of complex reports, briefings and presentations to influence senior stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Initiate the identification and analysis of emerging issues, trends and risks for CVIS on performance outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives and recommendations for executives and other key stakeholders to respond to those issues.
- Provide CVIU with an organisational awareness regarding the information sharing policies throughout Corrections Victoria, and provide a strategic oversight on the use of intelligence throughout the organisation and across the greater intelligence community.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with high level internal and external stakeholders to create mutually beneficial partnerships to support outcomes on performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct reviews, undertake research, and prepare complex reports, assessments and procedures relevant to the CVIS as directed.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven ability to plan, monitor and manage significant and complex projects within a legislative framework to time and budget.
- Demonstrated ability to develop systems and to analyse data from a range of sources in order to evaluate and improve service delivery.
- Knowledge of contemporary practices and principles that apply to intelligence functions within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
Qualifications/requirements
- An existing Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance, otherwise one must be obtained within 12 months of securing ongoing employment (paid for by the department).
- Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices that apply to intelligence function within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies (preferred).
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems.
