ROLE SUMMARY:
The Project Manager – Warnings Enhancement is responsible for leading the delivery of a time-limited initiative funded through the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF). The CBIDW project focuses on improving flood and storm warnings for Victoria's diverse communities by strengthening the use of data, intelligence and technology to deliver information that is timely, tailored and actionable.
The role is accountable for implementing the Project Delivery Strategy and applying effective project management, risk and governance frameworks to support consistent and successful delivery. The role operates within complex systems and is required to work across technical and operational environments, whilst maintaining a community-first focus.
Reporting to the Assistant Chief Officer Emergency Management Planning, the Project Manager works closely with internal and external stakeholders and provides leadership to ensure project activities are aligned with broader emergency management and sector priorities. In particular, the role works in close collaboration with the Senior Advisor Public Information and Warnings, ensuring project outputs align with existing warnings policy, processes and capability initiatives, and ensuring technical flood and storm intelligence is translated into clear, usable warning products and public information that meet community needs and can be embedded into business as usual at project completion.
This role supports the State Operations and Regional Service Delivery Business Units to meet the outcomes of their business plans and is a key contributor in enhancing VICSES' ability to lead and effective response capacity for Flood and Storm. A flexible and solutions focused approach is needed with the ability to balance competing demands and to plan for and deliver specific outcomes within clearly defined time and resource constraints.
