About the role
The Project Manager plays a key role in the successful delivery of bus infrastructure projects related to Bus Services as well as engaging with key internal and external stakeholders such as DTP Roads, Councils and Contractors. By supporting the Manager, Senior Project Manager and the wider team, the Project Manager is also responsible for contributing to successful project delivery which maximises value for money for the State, ensuring timely delivery of bus infrastructure construction programs and providing astute subject matter expertise regarding bus related infrastructure to wider project groups and third party bus stop construction activities.
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is responsible for shaping Victoria’s transport system and infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing communities. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Project Manager to deliver high-quality projects that enhance transport outcomes across the state.
In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of small to medium-scale projects, ensuring they are completed within agreed scope, budget, and timeframes. You will define and manage project tasks, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as required to maintain delivery standards. Your ability to apply sound project management principles and asset management practices will be key to ensuring safety, compliance, and long-term performance outcomes.
Success in this position requires strong stakeholder management and communication skills. You will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external partners to identify needs, maintain satisfaction, and resolve issues constructively. Your professional judgement, initiative, and collaborative approach will help link people and priorities across the organisation to achieve effective outcomes.

Position accountabilities
DTP is shaping Victoria’s integrated transport system to meet the needs of our growing communities. We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of infrastructure and bus-related projects that improve transport outcomes across the state.
In this role, you will manage projects from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, time, quality, and budget, while meeting DTP’s safety, operational, and commercial objectives. You will uphold strong project governance and compliance across the full project lifecycle, including stage gates and peer reviews, to ensure high-quality outcomes for all Victorians.
Working collaboratively with internal teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders, you will ensure seamless project integration within the transport network. You will also review Third Party External Works applications, providing consent and certification where required.
