Project Engineer
The Role
The Project Engineer will join the Engineering and Storage team, working closely with the Engineering Director to assist with the planning and delivery of the CarbonNet Project. This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and experience towards submission of critical regulatory submissions for the CarbonNet project. Skills required for this position are broad, but include an understanding of risk and scope management, budgets and resourcing, and schedule. An understanding of carbon capture and storage is essential.

The Team
The position of Project Engineer forms a part of the Industry, Trade and Investment group in The CarbonNet Project.
The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. ITI harnesses specialist knowledge of key industries and global markets to develop Victoria's priority sectors, boost trade activities, enhance productivity and contribute to economic growth.
CarbonNet is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth governments to investigate the feasibility of commercial scale carbon capture and storage in Gippsland. CCS involves capturing CO2 released by industrial processes, compressing it and then transporting it to an injection site to be sequestered deep underground for safe, long-term storage in suitable geological formations – similar to the way oil and gas has been stored underground for millions of years.
