Want to help grow Victoria’s forests? We’re looking for someone interested in working in forest health and silviculture to grow DEECA’s Seedbank in east Gippsland.As a Program Officer – Reforestation and Silviculture, you'll play a key role in planning and delivering seed collection operations and seed management programs to build seed stores for DEECA’s forest restoration projects. Working with a skilled silviculture team located across Victoria, you’ll manage the east Gippsland site assessments, superintending, planning and approvals, and manage local seed facilities and contractors. You'll develop high-quality spatial analysis, as well as operational and tactical plans and maps, to enable the safe and effective delivery of silviculture works across east Gippsland region, with a focus on Snowy and Tambo districts.
In this role, you'll be able to shape and support the reforestation and silviculture program to ensure that DEECA is ready to respond when needed with the right seeds for forest restoration programs, and ensure they’re extracted, stored and used in the right conditions to meet standards and directly support operational delivery. You'll also bring strong local knowledge to the table, working closely with the District forest and fire planning and operations teams supporting district priority projects, and to ensure regional and district priorities are clearly reflected in regional and state planning processes.
Your work will help inform the Operational Forest Management Program, and broader 2–5-year planning and strategic frameworks including strategic planning for seed collection, and research projects, making a real difference to supporting forest resilience and recovery for the future.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2028. The work location for this position is flexible within Snowy District/ Negotiable with hybrid work arrangements available.
