About the role
The Program Officer - Dredging and Waterway Services supports the planning, coordination and delivery of dredging, navigation safety and waterway maintenance programs across Parks Victoria-managed waterways. The role helps keep channels, entrances and access points safe and serviceable through programmed dredging, hydrographic survey coordination, environmental monitoring and contractor management.
Working within approved project plans, budgets and timeframes, the position assists with contract administration, site logistics, permit and compliance processes (e.g. Environmental Management Plans, EPA requirements, Marine Safety Victoria), and reporting. It collaborates with Harbour Masters, Traditional Owners, community and commercial users, local government and partner agencies to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with environmental and cultural obligations.
About the Team
The Program Officer role is a member of diverse, yet collaborative service and delivery team within the Maritime and Waterways Directorate. The directorate is responsible for controlling vessel access in our managed ports and waterways, as well as the management and maintenance of about 200 piers and jetties, 100 water access points (such as boat ramps, rowing launches and slipways) and 800 navigation aids, and moorings and berths.
