The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Prison Supervisor, to provide a critical role within Corrections & Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
Department of Justice & Regulation comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.
The Loddon Mallee Region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Echuca, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen. The region has three prisons, Tarrengower Prison is a minimum-security facility for women located in Maldon, Loddon Prison a medium risk facility and Middleton a restricted minimum facility in Castlemaine.
Tarrengower Prison is committed to delivering the highest level of Transitional Support to women who are preparing to exit prison and return to the community, in a trauma informed approach and in a way that supports our vision of “Working together to Succeed.”
About the Role
A Prison Supervisor is responsible for service delivery outcomes within their area of responsibility. The Supervisor may be required to be the officer in charge of the prison, perform after hours stand-by duties and is required to manage a coordinated response to critical incidents in a timely manner. This includes being an active member of an Incident Management Team.
The Prison Supervisor will direct and supervise teams conducting searches and escorts, surveillance, observing and assessing prisoner behaviour, operating a variety of security equipment, collating information and preparing reports. Prison Supervisors have a significant role in ensuring compliance with prison procedures. The Prison Supervisor will also act, as required, in the role of Disciplinary Officer.
