The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Prison Supervisor to provide a critical role at Hopkins Correctional Centre.
About the Business Unit
Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium security prison housing up to 798 people located in the Grampians Region of Western Victoria. The prison takes a multi-disciplinary approach that promotes active participation in activities structured to assist with rehabilitation and reintegration back to community at end of sentence.
About the Role
The Prison Supervisor manages the day-to-day functional needs of accommodation and/or security areas. They will be responsible for managing a team of custodial and non-custodial officers delivering a range of correctional services for which they will require strong people management skills. The role requires leadership, maturity, sound judgement, and confidence in decision making, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate staff. With highly developed communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills the Prison Supervisor leads and manages staff to achieve program and service outcomes in a multidisciplinary team and rehabilitative environment.
This multifaceted role encompasses human resource management, including Performance Management, coaching, and developing staff, OH&S requirements, E.E.O. legislation responsibilities, staff employment and training requirements and budget monitoring.
