The Principal Regulatory Officer provides detailed regulatory advice on the development and review of regulatory instruments, which are relevant to the energy transition in electricity distribution networks. This role will have a particular focus on reforms that enable behind the meter transition and the effective integration of electric vehicles to facilitate a rapid shift towards electrification of transport while maintaining reliability and affordability for Victorian consumers.
The role requires a strong grasp of regulatory issues and frameworks across the energy sector at both a State and national level.
The Principal Regulatory Officer prepares reports, briefs, presentations, submissions and correspondence on complex issues and at times, under tight timeframes. Strong policy design, project management, research, and analytical capabilities are needed to enable project planning and successful delivery in this role.
The Principal Regulatory Officer develops and maintains strong networks across the Branch, Division and broader Energy Group, as well as with other stakeholders, such as central agencies. The role requires a candidate who is adaptable, resilient, and outcomes-focused, and who provides clear, authoritative, and timely advice to see projects to their completion. Knowledge of departmental, corporate and Cabinet processes will be an advantage.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2029. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson St, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
