The role of the principal is to lead and manage the planning, delivery, evaluation and improvement of the education of all students in a community through the deployment of resources provided by the Department and the school community.
At the same time, the principal, as executive officer of the school council, must ensure that adequate and appropriate advice is provided to the council on educational and other matters, that the decisions of the council are implemented and that adequate support and resources are provided for the conduct of council meetings.
The principal is accountable for the overall management and development of the school within statewide guidelines and Government policies. A clear set of accountabilities, which distinguish their work from other members of the Teaching Service and the education community are set out in detail in the contract of employment.

Stanhope Primary School is a small school with a long history and maintains a strong involvement with the local kindergarten and wider community. Our school values have Lifelong Learning as the core focus and encompass Learning and Success, Respect, and Citizenship. The School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program is central to our teaching and learning program and reinforces concepts of resilience and persistence. Stanhope Primary School has a current enrolment of 16 students. We have two classrooms operating this year ¿ our junior P-2 class and our senior 3-6 class. Our junior class is shared between 2 parttime teachers and the principal, and our senior class has a full-time teacher. Additional members of our staff include our Educational Support Officer, a Tutor, a Wellbeing Officer, an Inclusion Leader, and a Business Manager ¿ all of whom operate at different time fractions across the week. We celebrate student success at our weekly student-led school assemblies, through the weekly newsletter and ultimately at our end of year awards ceremony. We have a comprehensive transition program into school, through the year levels and into secondary schooling.
