The Opportunity
Step into a key role as a Principal Project Manager, where you'll drive program management excellence and lead meaningful process improvements in an engaging team environment. We're looking for someone who thrives on building strong relationships and delivering clarity, structure and transparency across complex projects. You'll play a central role in elevating our project and stakeholder management approach, partnering with generation proponents and key stakeholders to deliver a seamless and transparent connections experience.
What you will deliver
- Lead and manage the full delivery of multiple generator and customer connection projects across the Victorian Transmission Network. This includes setting project plans, defining scopes and schedules, preparing cost estimates and managing lifecycle financial forecasting.
- Coordinate the technical, commercial, regulatory and stakeholder aspects of complex connection projects by working with developers, service providers, VicGrid teams, network businesses and regulators to ensure structured and predictable delivery.
- Strengthen and modernise Victoria's connection processes by aligning them with emerging technologies, proponent's priorities and practical delivery needs. Lead internal workstreams that drive continuous business and process improvements.
- Provide strategic leadership and governance through proactive risk and issue management, development of technical assessment rationales, coordinated decision-making across projects and high-quality reporting and executive communication.
- Display an understanding of Legislation, Regulation and the Access authorities
- Build capability and support a culturally safe, high-performing team by mentoring junior staff, leading project forums and promoting an agile, solutions-focused approach to project challenges.
What you will bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering or a related field, with project management certification an advantage.
- Good understanding of the energy sector, including industry operations, regulations and the commercial and legal factors around major infrastructure projects.
- Five to seven years' experience delivering and managing projects or programs in the energy or a similar technical industry, with the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
- Ability to manage and communicate complex engineering problems, supported by skills in project management and CRM software and confidence in analysing project data.
- Strong stakeholder and client-facing skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate effectively and present clear project information.
