THE ROLE
This role will work as part of a team to translate demand modelling and intelligence into advice that informs investment decisions and develops evidence-based advice on the impact of investment.
The Principal Policy and Project Officer leads strategic and complex policy, projects and stakeholder management to provide evidence-based insights and advice to support decision making by the executive.
Working as part of a team, this senior role will:
- have a deep understanding of the structural context of the community services system funded by the department, and build strong partnerships with peaks, providers and broader industry as relevant.
- provide secretariat support for relevant governance forums, and, co-ordinates information flows between the department and sector.
- provide evidence-based insights and advice to support well informed decision making by the executive.
- lead structured engagement with stakeholders, that is cognisant of and complements the sector engagement undertaken by program divisions
- provide analysis of industrial, indexation, and funding impacts on the sector
- lead a variety of work priorities within the System Insights and Improvement unit, as required.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to ministers, the Secretary and other senior stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research, evidence, and stakeholder consultation.
- Lead the delivery of policy, program and reform priorities across the division, including as required by temporarily taking on work from a different team, taking on a temporary assignment in a different team, or working in a different manner (e.g. a hybrid team structure).
- Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
