The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on vulnerable children and young people. The Commission supports flexible and hybrid working models.

The Commission is headed by the Principal Commissioner and Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People.
The Principal Policy and Planning Officer reports to the Manager, Policy, Strategy and Data. The role will primarily be responsible for the strategic and business planning functions for the Commission, including coordination of the Commission's Annual Report. The role will also support the Principal Commissioner by coordinating a range of material, including written advice on complex issues, briefing and meeting notes, correspondence, background materials and speaking points for speeches. Working across the Commission, the role will also provide expert policy advice and develop and coordinate policy submissions that impact children and young people.
In this role you will:
- Lead the strategic and business planning functions for the Commission, including coordination of the Commission's Annual Report
- Support the Principal Commissioner by coordinating a range of material, including advice on complex issues, correspondence, meeting notes and background materials and speaking points for speeches
- Provide advice and analysis on relevant policy, practices and services
- Lead the development and coordination of submissions on complex policy issues and identify and report on new and emerging trends in policy, practice and services
About You

- Have experience developing and executing organisations' strategic and business plans
- Have experience in providing high-quality policy advice in a government context
