About the role:
The Principal Policy and Legislation Officer will demonstrate advanced policy analysis and development skills, with a strong focus on legislative reform and experience working collaboratively with legal teams and/or Parliamentary Counsel on legislative development. You will provide expert advice and leadership in coordinating the amendments of two key Acts, engaging closely with stakeholders to ensure that policy initiatives are informed, effective and aligned with the needs of Victoria's health sector. Your responsibilities will include leading consultations, negotiating with key partners, and synthesising stakeholder feedback to shape legislative reforms that support safer, higher quality healthcare across the state.
You will be a highly effective team member, displaying exceptional analytical, written, problem-solving, project management and communication skills. The successful candidate will have proven experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement and legislative processes, along with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role reports to the relevant senior manager and will collaborate closely with colleagues across Safer Care Victoria and the department to ensure policy initiatives are implemented successfully and contribute to the achievement of SCV's strategic objectives.

About you:
Experience in developing legislation, Management consulting experience, or experience in an equivalent internal function in the public service, is desired.
A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded.
