The Principal Legal Counsel supports the General Counsel in the provision of quality legal advice, stakeholder engagement, and day to day leadership of the Legal Services business unit.
Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will focus on developing and maintaining strong partnerships with senior leaders and managers within the Commission. You will help identify and respond to trends, people and performance hotspots and emerging business issues. You will assist General Counsel to support the Commission achieve its strategic goals.

The role is suited to lawyers with approximately 6+ years post admission experience.

About the organisation
The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing. It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation. Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months.
