About the role:
The Principal Adviser works within a project team to support delivery of a suite of savings initiatives across the Department of Health (DH) approved by Health Finance Board and Cabinet. Actual delivery of the initiatives remains the responsibility of specific DH divisions, therefore the successful candidate must operate in a highly collaborative and networked manner – influencing and overseeing the work of peers and stakeholders.
The position will lead the development of initiatives that improve the efficiency of Victoria's health services using financial analysis skills, the development of policy and providing technical advice. This is in addition to overseeing implementation and delivery of savings initiatives, tracking and reporting on activity and communicating and engaging with departmental, government and health system stakeholders.
The role is a great opportunity to demonstrate and build on the full set of public sector leadership skills, including collaborating and influencing across stakeholders, driving and reporting on priority matters, and managing risks. The role will grant exposure to senior stakeholders and decision-makers, and provide a good view of health system priorities and issues.

Formulate policy options, advice, and briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration and will contribute to the development of a set of final options for decision.
