About The Emergency Department
The Austin Health Emergency Department stands as one of the most active and comprehensive healthcare hubs in the state, attending to nearly 90,000 patients annually. With its unique capability to cater to both adult and paediatric populations within a single department, 20% of Emergency presentations are paediatric patients.
Committed to delivering timely, compassionate, and appropriate care, the department is equipped to assess, manage, and admit patients spanning various medical specialties. Its approach is strengthened by a dedication to teaching, research, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies and processes.
About the role and program
Austin Health is delighted to offer registered nurses with two years of acute nursing experience with a keen interest in Emergency Care Nursing the opportunity to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Critical care Nursing (Emergency) in partnership with University of Melbourne.
This comprehensive program, overseen by our dedicated education team, integrates both clinical and practical components. Supported by a structured curriculum, it includes coursework through The University of Melbourne and hands-on clinical training at Austin Health. Our goal is to equip learners with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality care to both adult and paediatric patients in a critical care environment, focusing on essential emergency nursing skills such as resuscitation and triage.
This program will provide participants with the opportunity to advance their critical thinking to deliver exceptional care in emergency situations, making a significant impact to patient outcomes
About you
You will have at least 2 years of acute nursing experience, coupled with excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Your strong commitment to excellence in patient care is evident in your work. You are dedicated to self-development and education, bringing energy and drive to everything you do.
