About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About Emergency Department
Barwon Health ED is one of the largest regional health services in Victoria, providing care for approximately 80,000 emergency presentations per year. Under Barwon Health’s emergency model of care patients are streamed to dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, paediatric, resuscitation, trauma and mental health areas. Our mission is to improve access and patient flow to provide a sustainable service that ensures high quality, safe, people focused care. The emergency department also has short stay units to ensure consumers receive the right care, at the right place at the right time.
About the role
An exciting opportunity to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Nursing (Emergency), in affiliation with Monash University. The successful applicants will have emergency nursing experience and excellent communication skills. Also required is a motivation to continued professional development and flexibility to work all shifts on a monthly self-request roster.
Successful applicants will be supported with our well-established structured program. Graduates will develop the advanced clinical skills and knowledge required to care for complex ED patients. Applicants will work autonomously whilst being part of a supportive team across both the Adult and Children’s Emergency Department.
The Program
· 12 months: 64 hrs per fortnight, temporary part time (commencing Jan 2026)
· In collaboration with Monash University
· Competencies and hurdles assessed onsite by Clinical Educator. Shift support offered through Clinical Support Nurses
· Rotations through Adult and Children’s ED
Requirements
Registered Nurse with minimum of 12 months acute experience
Previous emergency nursing experience
