The Role
We are looking for a motivated and collaborative Policy Officer with strong research and analytical skills, sound judgement, and experience supporting policy development. The role supports the day-to-day operation of the Local Jobs First Policy and the development of high-level policy advice to senior management, the Executive, the Minister and a range of industry stakeholders. You will contribute to policy development, implementation and evaluation of Local Jobs First and help ensure the scheme's objectives are met, with a strong focus on supporting the effective implementation of significant reforms to the Local Jobs First Act 2003. The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, adaptable and eager to learn.

The Team
The position of Policy Officer forms part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent Branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment Group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. The Group develops Victoria's priority sectors, boosts trade activities, enhances productivity and contributes to economic growth.
The Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent Branch is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda. The Branch develops policies and delivers programs that drive sustainable economic growth and workforce inclusion, including creating opportunities for local SMEs and employees to participate in government projects and supporting strategic industry sectors, productivity and workforce outcomes.
About You
You will have experience interpreting and applying policies relevant to your work and drafting policies and business cases using research and consultation with relevant stakeholders. You will be able to determine appropriate data and evidence-gathering approaches and conduct critical analysis of the evidence collected. You will also have the ability to define tasks, coordinate and guide others, monitor progress against plans and take corrective action when required.
