About the Department
The Department of Education (department) provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
Wellbeing, Health and Engagement Division
The Wellbeing, Health and Engagement Division (WHED) leads policy and programs to improve student mental health and wellbeing, safety, health, engagement and inclusion. The division has a particular focus on improving outcomes for cohorts that may be disadvantaged or at risk when it comes to their education. Specifically, the purpose of the Division is to:
• Build safe and respectful school environments
• Strengthen the response to family violence
• Support student mental health and wellbeing
• Increase support for vulnerable students at risk of disengaging from education
• Expand student health support in Schools
Family Violence and Child Safety Branch
The Family Violence and Child Safety Branch leads the department's work on family violence prevention and response in schools, LGBTIQA+ inclusion, prevention of child abuse and supporting wellbeing workforces in the education system.
About the Role
This is a Fixed Term role until 30/06/2028.
An exciting VPS4 Policy Officer role is available in the Respectful Relationships and Family violence Unit of the department.
The Respectful Relationships and Family Violence Unit leads the implementation and ongoing development of the state-wide Respectful Relationships initiative, providing policy and best practice advice, managing engagement and collaboration with the Respectful Relationships regional workforce and peak bodies from the family violence sector, and key school and early childhood stakeholders. The Unit also provides policy advice on Whole of Government family violence policy issues and supports education workforces to implement the information sharing and family violence reforms, including Victoria's Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework.
The role includes supporting project management and policy advice led by the Respectful Relationships and Family Violence team.
The role reports to the Manager, Respectful Relationships and Family Violence Unit.
Attributes
The successful applicant will have experience in project management and administration, as well policy and writing skills to prepare written products and advice to decision makers, while supporting the department's regional workforce and engagement with key education and family violence stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience with the department's finance systems and processes is also desired.
