To provide physiotherapy services to special students who have physical disabilities so they can have an optimal developmental chance and to prevent other secondary disabilities from happening.
To work as a member of the school professional team for the best outcome of the students
Assessing students who need physiotherapy services at the school.
Accepting referrals from transition reports and new cases from teaching staff as required.
Prioritising students for therapy requirements.
Practising therapeutic exercises and other treatments for needing students. I aim to help the students to be able to develop optimally with their individual conditions and at the same time, to prevent secondary damages from happening.
Training physiotherapy assistants.
Working with other therapists at the school (OTs and speech therapists) as a team for the best benefits of students.
Workings with teachers and teacher¿s assistants for support and implementation of physiotherapy programs.
Maintaining documentations regarding therapy, parents meetings and progresses of the students receiving treatment.
Writing report on students¿ progress twice yearly to the principal, teachers and students¿ parents.
To liaise with Royal Children Hospital¿s GPs, surgeons and other specialists for assessment and further medical intervention if needed.
Attending appointments at the Royal Children Hospital with students, parents and specialist surgeons and doctors when needed.
Providing therapy and training for parents and carers at a student¿s home if he/she cannot attend school for medical reasons for a long time.
To write transition reports and recommendations for other physiotherapists and therapists when a student changes school
To assist in safe working practice training for staff members.
To stay up-to-date with current developments in paediatrics and rehabilitation (professional association membership, medical literatures, conferences)
Administration
Responsibility for the overall development and strategic planning of service provision to students, staff, parents and external agencies.
Incorporate school policies and procedures into OT services planning
Ensure a high personal standard of work
Maintain and upgrade therapy resources in consultation with Co-therapists
Meet regularly with School Principal, Leadership team and Co-Therapists
Provide professional development for staff of the school and external community groups as requested
Undertake relevant professional development
To work in consultation with teaching teams to undertake goal planning for students.
To provide written and verbal assessments and recommendations for therapists, teachers and parents where appropriate
To regularly consult with teachers and parents where appropriate in relation to the progress of the students
An approved qualification in Speech Therapy, acceptable for membership of the Australian Health Professionals Association is mandatory for appointment to
this position.

Warringa Park School is a specialist school located in Hoppers Crossing. The school population is drawn from the City of Wyndham and caters for students aged 5 to18 years who have a diagnosed intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound. Warringa Park is a P-12 school organised around the three stages of learning - the lower, middle and upper years. The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is offered in the later years.
