Alberton Primary School is a small rural school with a current enrolment of 97 students. The school is situated in the centre of the township of Alberton, six kilometres south of Yarram on the South Gippsland Highway and is approximately 225 km South East of Melbourne. It is set on approximately four acres of land that features an oval, a hard court playing area and a children¿s playground. The school has been completely rebuilt under the auspices of the Building Futures Program. There is also a new Science/Art building and a mod-5 building that is used for Music. The school has provided education to the children of Alberton and surrounding areas for 160 years and is Primary School No. 1 on the Victorian Roll.

Our program provides a strong focus on English and Maths and includes specialist teaching and learning in Music, Arts, Science, Technology, H&PE & ICT. All programs are well resourced. The specialist subjects form part of the school¿s rotational approach to learning, ensuring that all teachers have contact with all students during the week.

Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in assisting the school to improve student performance and educational outcomes determined by the school strategic plan and state-wide priorities and contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
A critical component of this work will focus on increasing the knowledge base of staff within their school about student learning and high quality instruction to assist their school to define quality teacher practice.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
