The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Performance and Planning Manager, to provide a critical role within Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) Precinct, Corrections and Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
The Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) operates as one of Victoria's maximum-security ‘front-end' correctional facilities, receiving people directly from police and courts into the men's prison system. As such, the prison manages a diverse and complex mix of people with a range of risks and needs. Opened in 1989 and located on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD, MAP is the only ‘high rise' prison in the state. While the assessment and orientation of people received into custody is MAP's primary role, MAP is also responsible for custody and escort functions for people in custody at the Melbourne County Court, Melbourne Supreme Court and Supreme Court of Appeals (Monday to Friday), and at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne including St Augustine's Security Ward and St Vincent's Hospital holding cells. MAP also looks after the security function at the Adult Parole Board and Post Sentence Authority in West Melbourne.
About the Role
The Performance and Planning Manager, MAP Precinct, is responsible for the management of a small team in the delivery of a broad range of project, governance, operational improvement, liaison and stakeholder activities including planning, monitoring and reporting on MAPs service delivery performance. The position is also responsible the development and implementation of business excellence strategies.
