About the role
South West Healthcare's (SWH) Ngootyoong Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC) provide comprehensive clinical recovery support and care to our regional consumers in collaboration with our non-clinical partners, ermha365 who provide the psychosocial recovery program. The available position of Peer Support/Lived Experience Worker provides active support and requires an understanding of the needs of consumers derived primarily from their own lived experience which compliments the professional knowledge and skills of the clinical staff.
Ngootyoong PARC offers recovery-oriented treatment for people with, or at risk of developing, serious mental illness in a home-like setting. PARC is a supported recovery orientated mental health residential facility which provides an option for people who are becoming unwell or who are in the early stages of their recovery and would benefit from short term (up to 28 days) or medium- term (less than 6 month) intensive treatment, to strengthen their biological, psychological and social well-being. Day program places are also offered to support people's individual recovery.
The position also provides peer support to consumers and their families; is involved in their treatment and recovery planning and to participate in providing education to the consumer, family, carers and staff.
