What you will do
As payroll officer, you will process pay and benefits for employees across the department.
- Provide accurate advice, manage payroll records and help resolve payroll queries.
You will:
- process accurate fortnightly payroll transactions, including new starters, timesheets and terminations
- maintain employee and payroll records and manage salary overpayments
- prepare clear payroll reports and provide advice on pay and employment conditions
- provide timely customer service and help employees understand payroll matters
- support payroll deadlines, improve processes and keep complete records.
About you
A relevant qualification or relevant work experience is highly desirable. You should have experience in payroll or human resource services, ideally in a government setting.
You should also have:
- payroll experience in a high-volume transactional environment
- experience using CHRIS21 or another payroll system
- the ability to interpret policies and legislation and provide clear advice
- strong communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
