About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2027
The Payroll Compliance Officer role supports the payroll team in maintaining quality and access standards of the Department’s personnel files. This role will work closely with the Manager, Payroll Services, to maintain up-to-date policies and ensure best record-keeping practices within the People and Culture team.
Through regular auditing, the Payroll Compliance Officer will identify and communicate any corrections required to the appropriate users, and report usage of access to relevant managers.
This role will also assist payroll compliance activities and projects as required.

Key Selection Criteria.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively to foster a supportive and cooperative team environment, sharing information across teams to respond effectively to issues and providing practical support in challenging situations. You will demonstrate foundational digital and technological literacy, confidently using Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online collaboration tools to support day-to-day operations.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to resolve issues by applying relevant policies, procedures and guidelines, and to seek guidance where required by clearly articulating issues and potential solutions. You will contribute to innovation and continuous improvement by offering practical ideas to enhance work practices, maintaining quality and effectiveness even under time pressure.
Applying systems thinking, you will assess situations holistically, use appropriate analytical tools to understand system dynamics, and recognise how decisions and actions impact other parts of the organisation to support well-informed, sustainable outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience working with a records management system and / or employee documentation (desirable).
