Medical Oncology Precinct Breast Patient Navigator

About the Role
The Patient Navigator is a vital member of the Medical Oncology team and serves as the first point of contact for patients, carers, and community referrers.
This role is central to ensuring a smooth and supportive patient journey by:
• Responding to incoming calls and enquiries
• Assisting with appointment bookings, changes, and clarifications
• Supporting patient flow through the cancer care system
• Facilitating timely access to care
Key Responsibilities
As the Medical Oncology Precinct Patient Navigator (Breast Tumour Stream), you will:
• Coordinate referrals for breast medical oncology patients across both hospital sites
• Arrange internal cross-precinct referrals as required
• Coordinate treatment review bookings for Royal Melbourne Hospital patients attending day therapy
• Act as a key contact for breast medical oncology patients across the precinct
• Rebook patients when clinics are cancelled due to clinician leave
This is an important coordination role that directly supports high-quality, patient-centred cancer care across the precinct.
To be successful in this position you will require the following key attributes:
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Competent IT skills, experience with Epic is highly desirable
• Capable of working independently and in a team
• Able to prioritise work and to work with minimum supervision and guidance.
• Responsible and adaptable
• Demonstrated attention to detail with well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
