Western Health is seeking a General Paediatrician to join our Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s team for 6 months to cover sabbatical leave, from February 2026.
The paediatricians at Western Health manage a broad array of paediatric health issues, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to the multicultural paediatric population of Western Melbourne. The position will cover both inpatient general paediatrics and outpatient services. Consultant paediatrician outpatient clinics manage a range of complex general and developmental patients. The Paediatrician will also be actively involved in the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and medical students on the ward and in clinics. There are ample opportunities for peer review and discussion, and the unit has a supportive and collegiate culture.
Clinical appointment is 0.4 FTE (Mondays and Tuesdays; weekends on-call will also be required). Whilst predominantly located at our Joan Kirner Women's and Children's (Sunshine Hospital) site, the successful candidate may be required to do occasional on-call at our Bacchus Marsh site which provides neonatal care. There is a 3-bed SCN, and approximately 800 births per year at the site. The paediatrician is required to be immediately available, and family-friendly comfortable accommodation is provided across the road from the hospital for any periods on-call.
This role commences 3rd February for 6 months, with some flexibility in start date during February if required.
