Paediatrician
About the Role:
We have an opportunity for a Paediatrician to join our team in mid-2026 at our Bacchus Marsh and Melton sites to cover sabbatical and long service leave.
Melton Health has a busy paediatric ambulatory service which specialises in the assessment and management with developmental and behavioural needs. There is a strong collegiate approach from the multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and physiotherapists and there are ample opportunities for peer discussion. The unit runs group programs and individual assessment clinics in a collaborative manner, providing Best Care to the children in the western suburbs. If you are skilled and interested in multidisciplinary autism assessments, then there is opportunity for the work profile to include this. General Paediatric, Neonatal, and Developmental Paediatric clinics are also provided at the Bacchus Marsh Hospital site.
The General Paediatrician will ideally also be available to provide care for neonates in the 3 bed, level 2 special care nursery and babies on the postnatal ward at Bacchus Marsh Hospital. This would be an approximately fortnightly on-call period at Bacchus Marsh on Mondays (including overnight) from November - March, but this can be negotiated. The maternity service delivers approximately 800 babies per year and the inpatient SCN cares for infants from 37 weeks gestation. The unit is serviced 24 hours/day by obstetricians, anaesthetists, and paediatricians. Family-friendly accommodation is provided at Bacchus Marsh free of charge for on call periods.
The Melton region is one of the most rapidly growing municipalities in Melbourne with significant migration in the last few years. This position provides a varied work profile and will suit a Paediatrician with strong interests in developmental paediatrics. Newly qualified (or those will qualify by April 2026) Paediatricians are encouraged to apply. We also encourage previous applicants to apply to this new opportunity.
This opportunity will cover outpatient clinics at our Melton site from July - December 2026 (one day per week), and our Melton and Bacchus Marsh sites from January - March 2027 (two days per fortnight). Availability on Mondays is preferred throughout the 9-month period. There is opportunity to transition to our casual locum positions after this time, or to apply to further fixed term roles that are anticipated for 2027.
