NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria.
Applications are invited from doctors who are currently part of the Rural Generalist Program and are keen to take an advanced skills post in Paediatrics at Northeast Health Wangaratta in 2026.
The RG Advanced skills stream is designed to flexibly deliver career pathways for rural generalist trainees within the region.
The primary role of the Paediatric Registrar is to provide extensive experience in General Paediatric Medicine, Adolescent Medicine and Neonatology. There will be significant exposure to acute Paediatric presentations with the trainee being involved with the Paediatric Ward, Emergency Department, Special Care Nursery and Private consultation rooms.
It serves a population of approximately 102,000,performs over 6,500 procedures a year and has over 19,000 inpatient episodes and 30,000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology, pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, an emergency department, critical care unit (ICU, HDU, CCU), obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, specialised aged care, medical oncology services, community rehabilitation, inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
NHW has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units
