About the Role

The Operations Lead sits within Network Operations and plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day functions of the Department of Transport and Planning’s Transport Operations Centre. Reporting to two Managers, the role supports teams made up of Traffic Controllers and Customer Response Officers, while working closely with colleagues across the centre and on-road patrol staff to ensure smoother, more consistent outcomes on the road network.
This dynamic role involves managing competing priorities, providing operational support, overseeing office administration, and coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders to keep things moving efficiently.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
Key Selection Criteria
We’re seeking a professional and capable Operations Lead to join the Department of Transport and Planning’s Transport Operations Centre. This role sits within Network Operations and plays a vital part in ensuring smoother and more predictable outcomes across the road network.
Working closely with two Managers, you’ll support operational teams including Traffic Controllers and Customer Response Officers, while collaborating with centre colleagues and on-road patrols. The role involves balancing multiple priorities, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining effective office administration to support service delivery.
Success in this role requires accomplished skills in critical thinking, stakeholder engagement, and customer service. You will bring a strong ability to identify issues, anticipate needs, and apply sound judgment to deliver tangible results. Your experience in managing projects, guiding teams, and building capability in others will ensure continuous improvement and alignment with strategic outcomes.
