The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Offender Services Supervisor, to provide a critical role within Tarrengower Prison, Corrections and Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
Tarrengower is a minimum-security prison accommodating up to 72 female offenders and is situated 2 kms from Maldon in Central Victoria. Tarrengower's emphasis is on release preparation and community reintegration through the provision of programs within a rehabilitative environment. Tarrengower emphasises the principles of a healthy prison where children can be accommodated with their mothers ensuring the family unit is maintained and developed. Tarrengower strongly recognises cultural diversity, respecting individual religious, spiritual, and cultural beliefs.
About the Role
The Offender Services Supervisor will be a suitably experienced individual with training and experience in the coordination of individual and group programs and interventions. The role will involve the sourcing and coordinating of services and psycho-educational skills-based programs to meet the needs of the women in custody. All programs delivered aim to reduce the risk of re-offending by assisting offenders to develop key skills to support their reintegration into the community. The Offender Services Supervisor will also have a role in case consultation, behavioural management, and resolving issues concerned with program participation/engagement and attendance, in consultation with the Case Management Review Committee at the location and other key stakeholders as required.
The Offender Services Supervisor role is to assist in development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based programs, according to current correctional philosophies, legislative requirements, prison policies and correctional standards. The role involves direct prisoner contact and may involve occasional weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Agreement
