The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Offender Management Officer to provide a critical role at Tarrengower Prison.
About the Business Unit
Tarrengower is a minimum security prison accommodating up to 72 female offenders and is situated 2 kms from Maldon in Central Victoria. Tarrengower's emphasis is on release preparation and community reintegration through the provisions of programs within a rehabilitative environment. Tarrengower emphasises the principles of a healthy prison where children can be accommodated with their mothers ensuring the family unit is maintained and developed. Tarrengower strongly recognises cultural diversity, respecting individual religious, spiritual and cultural beliefs. Tarrengower has an operating model based on trauma informed practice and with a focus on child safe principles.
About the Role
The role of the Offender Management Officer is to support the Offender Services Supervisor and the Offender Management Framework within the prison. Their role is to act as ‘change agents', through the practice of mentoring and training custodial staff regarding offender management practices, promoting good practice through quality assurance and developing/improving the location's offender management processes to ensure they align with the Offender Management Framework.
