SC1 Ability to deliver occupational therapy supports to students aged 5-18 years with an intellectual disability and co-occurring conditions such as autism, challenging behaviours, and physical and sensory impairments.
SC2 Well-developed skills in assessing, planning, providing and evaluating occupational therapy supports that incorporate both individual and group work within a specialist education setting.
SC3 Knowledge and ability to utilise and implement a wide range of evidence-based OT interventions, including sensory processing supports, emotional regulation approaches, fine and gross motor skill development, activities of daily living (ADLs), and environmental adaptations that promote student participation and engagement across the school.
SC4 Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, staff and other professionals regarding service delivery, student goals and progress, and to provide practical strategies that can be implemented across home and school environments.
SC5 Proven capacity and commitment to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, contributing an OT lens to shared problem-solving, goal setting and program development.
This role is 3 days a week for 7.6 hours per day.
To be a member of a professional team providing a comprehensive and integrated framework to respond to the needs of students and their families.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

3. Provide support to students' families or carers through direct and indirect means eg. meetings and developing / providing resources.

Warragul and District Specialist School is situated in the regional town of Warragul in West Gippsland, an hour and a half east of Melbourne. The school commenced the 2025 year with approximately 125 students aged between 5 and 18 years. All students at the school have an intellectual disability with a large percentage having multiple disabilities including Autism, sensory and physical impairments and associated conditions. Students travel to the school from a broad geographic area, including Drouin, Neerim District, Yannathan / Poowong, and Trafalgar.
