The Occupational Therapist will provide consultancy services to teachers and teacher assistants regarding student¿s occupational performance. Consultancy services primarily focus on the provision of recommendations to teaching staff regarding programs for students in a school context.
The Occupational Therapist will provide support to classroom staff, including discussion, modelling and guidance regarding the implementation of recommendations.
Key Accountabilities
Administration
Responsibility for the overall development and strategic planning of service provision to students, staff, parents and external agencies.
Incorporate school policies and procedures into OT services planning
Ensure a high personal standard of work
Maintain and upgrade therapy resources in consultation with Co-therapists
Meet regularly with School Principal, Leadership team and Co-Therapists
Provide professional development for staff of the school and external community groups as requested
Undertake relevant professional development
To work in consultation with teaching teams to undertake goal planning for students.
To provide written and verbal assessments and recommendations for therapists, teachers and parents where appropriate
To regularly consult with teachers and parents where appropriate in relation to the progress of the students
An approved qualification in occupational therapy, acceptable for membership of the Australian Health Professionals Association is mandatory for appointment to
this position.
