We are seeking a reflective, compassionate and collaborative School Nurse to join our founding team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help establish health and wellbeing practices in a new specialist school from its very beginning.
As the School Nurse at Ngurraga School, you will:Provide high-quality nursing care to support the medical and health needs of students
Develop and implement individual health care plans in collaboration with families, staff and external health professionals
Support medication administration, emergency care and health-related risk management in line with policy and best practice
Promote student wellbeing, safety and participation in learning through proactive health support
Work collaboratively with teachers, education support staff and allied health professionals to enable inclusive educational access
Contribute to health education, staff training and wellbeing initiatives across the school
Engage in reflective practice, professional learning and continuous improvement initiatives

KSC 1. Demonstrate current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, with experience working with children and/or in a school or community health setting.
KSC 2. Effectively manage student health and medical needs, including providing first aid, developing and implementing individual medical and health care plans, monitoring medication and expiry dates, and liaising with families and relevant health professionals.
KSC 3. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, enter first aid incidents into EduSafe, and manage first aid supplies and kits across classrooms, yard duty, excursions and camps using strong organisational skills.
KSC 4. Communicate clearly and professionally with staff regarding students with anaphylaxis and other medical conditions, and engage effectively with families following first aid or health-related incidents.
KSC 5. Contribute a calm, caring and professional approach, with a strong commitment to student wellbeing, child safety standards and collaborative practice.

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Provide nursing care and first aid in accordance with DET policies and professional nursing standards
Develop, implement and review individual student medical and health care plans in consultation with families and health professionals
Safely manage and administer medications, including monitoring storage and expiry dates
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and record incidents in EduSafe
Communicate effectively with staff and families regarding student health, wellbeing and medical incidents, including high-risk conditions such as anaphylaxis and asthma
Support staff to implement health-related risk management plans and emergency responses as required under DET policy
Ensure first aid kits and medical supplies are adequately stocked and accessible across classrooms, yard duty areas, excursions and camps
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and child safety
