About the role
The Planning Officer Fire Ecology is responsible for the coordination and management of the ecological fire function within the Region, with a focus on strategic fire ecology planning and programming. The position will work with District, Regional and Corporate staff and external partners and stakeholders to plan and deliver ecological fire projects and programs, including oversight of the Regional ecological burning program, providing fire ecology expertise to staff and stakeholders, and advocating for and coordinating ecological fire research. The position will also partner with Traditional Owners to facilitate cultural fire practices and enable cultural fire programs on Parks Victoria estate, in accordance with Government and Parks Victoria strategies, frameworks and policies. As required, the position may also support broader programming and operations across the planning, response and recovery phases of the fire and emergency program.
