North Geelong Secondary College is a single-campus academic College for Years 7-12, located in the northern suburbs of the City of Greater Geelong. The current school enrolment is approximately 1000 students. North Geelong Secondary College provides the following programs;
The College has a campus for the Geelong English Language School. Approximately 30% of the students are from a Language Background other than English.

An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
The responsibilities of this position will be:
Multicultural Community
To assist in the process of communication between the school and parents from language backgrounds other than English (LOTE)
To provide LOTE parents with information about school programs
To assist with the organisation of school cultural diversity celebrations
Teacher Support
MEA staff at level 1 range 2 will be in classroom support roles for all periods a week except the fortnightly MEA meeting and where enrolments are required.
To assist teachers with English as an Additional Language (EAL) students in class work, activities and excursions
To liaise with EAL and subject teachers to select and provide resources and materials suitable for EAL students in mainstream classes
MEA are expected to be involved in classroom support during all allocated periods unless directed to undertake other tasks by the EAL Coordinator
Student Support
To accompany parents and students to enrolment interviews and assist new arrival students with the transition to North Geelong Secondary College
To assist individual students with timetables and help familiarise students with the school layout and daily organisational arrangements
To assist and encourage EAL students to participate in a range of school activities
Broader School Program
To attend fortnightly MEA meetings during allocated periods
To attend staff briefings and meetings and work in conjunction with other staff in promoting cultural diversity issues to the whole staff
Other tasks at the request of the Principal Class Team.
