The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Multi Agency Panel Coordinator to provide a critical role in Youth Justice.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system.
The Department's Youth Justice Service provides programs and resources to assist young people to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to manage their lives effectively without further offending. Through supervision, offending related programs and linkages to appropriate support services, the youth justice service promotes opportunities for rehabilitation and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.
About the Role
The Youth Justice program is primarily responsible for supervision and case management of young people between 12—21 years of age who have committed offences and subject to remand or pre-sentence community supervision including supervised bail orders or been sentenced to custodial and/or community based statutory orders.
The Youth Justice team provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court and adult criminal courts and who have received youth justice supervised orders. The legal mandate for Youth Justice is provided by the Children Youth and Families Act (CYFA) 2005.The team promotes the personal development of young people and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community including:
