Mental Health Operations Manager Fixed term 0.4 EFT for 12 months
The RCH Mental Health service is the Infant Child and Youth Mental Health Service for the western metro region and is spread across the RCH hospital and community campuses. The role will oversee operations for the service and suppoirt the manager in the ongoing role for a fixed term. The role requires a highly motivated person who has experience in managing operations of a large mental health service and take on responsibilitirs to help the wervice complete an inportant transformation process including the initiation of several new initiatives. The role will cover operatioins across the hospital and community campuses and will be based at the RCH Hospital campus.

About the Role
This is a fixed term position at 30.4 hours per fortnight within the Mental Health Department, based at the RCH campus. The position is for 12 months.
You will be responsible for:
The operational management of the mental health service including providing operational oversight supervision to the team and site coordinators across the hospital and community arms of the service, the senior administrative team leader, discipline seniors, the family violence advisor, consumer and carer consultants. You will also manage the budget of the mental health service.
What you’ll achieve:
The Operations Manager leads clinical operations of the Mental Health department as agreed with the Director including specified responsibilities for elements of strategic, clinical, operational, professional and stakeholder governance (including risk management). This involves ensuring effective departmental performance and quality service delivery with the resources available (human resources, financial, research and other supports) to align with the RCH Strategic Plan, in order to build and maintain a robust, flexible and sustainable mental health service that delivers high quality care for infants, children, adolescents and their families.
Your skills and experience:
Essential
• Considerable Experience in managing mental health teams and services
• Extensive experience in working in the mental health sector and sound knowledge of the relevant operational processes including the deliverable such as the DoH KPIs. and legislation pertaining to Mental Health.
• Excellent operational skills and a commitment to maintaining professional standards in the area
• Leadership experience in a major Australian public teaching hospital or mental health service, preferably at operational manager level
• Demonstrated successful leadership and supervision of clinical and administrative team leaders
• Extensive Human resource and people-management experience including recruitment, training and performance management
• Considerable experience in strategic financial planning, budget modelling, monitoring and reporting within a health context
Desirable
• Prior experience of acting in the role of the Mental Health Operations Manager

About RCH Mental Health Program
RCH Mental Health is a Level 5 tertiary Infant, Child and Family Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and comprises community and hospital-based services. This includes an Intake and Assessment Team based at Parkville and three multidisciplinary community-based teams located at Travancore, St Albans and Hoppers Crossing. The Community teams are led by a partnership between a Team Coordinator and a Consultant Psychiatrist, with the Team Coordinator responsible for the operational functioning of the team, and the Consultant Psychiatrist accountable for driving high quality clinical care across the Team.
RCH Mental Health is currently undergoing an exciting transformation and expansion as we implement the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. The transformation will allow RCH Mental Health to help more infants and children and their families and implement contemporary models of care that best meet the needs of the families we serve and support them to use their collective strengths for recovery and hope.
