About the Role
A great opportunity exists for a Grade 1 Medical Scientist to join our Haematology Laboratory at the Royal Children’s Hospital. This is a full-time, fixed term role (until 4th August 2026) that would enhance your skills and provide you with a depth of knowledge of laboratory services required at Royal Children’s Hospital. The role involves 24/7 rotating shifts and on-call while working a 9-day fortnight.
The successful person will be responsible for the performance of laboratory duties, including but not limited to, Haematology, Transfusion and Specimen Reception as directed by the Principal Scientist. Rotation at the Royal Womens Hospital Core Laboratory may also be required as directed by the Principal Scientist.

Classification for this position will range from RX1-RX7 (base salary $63,674.00 - $91,785.20 per annum, plus superannuation)

About the Department:
The Haematology Laboratory, within the department of Laboratory Services, provides a comprehensive, high quality diagnostic haematology service to both the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital will transition to a single pathology service. This creates an exciting opportunity to strengthen the scope, scale and reach of pathology services across the Parkville precinct to benefit all Victorians.
This role will be part of the new centre of excellence that will be led by Melbourne Health.
