About Haematology, Flow Cytometry & Cellular Therapies
The Haematology department is committed to promoting the highest levels of quality pathology services to the Austin hospital and surrounding health care facilities.
Working as a reference laboratory for regional sites, the Heidelberg laboratory receives samples from many different specialities including maternity and neonates, liver and kidney transplantation, haematology and oncology and the emergency department.
The Cellular Therapies laboratory processes autologous and allogeneic stem cell collections, Donor Lymphocyte Infusions and granulocytes. Collections are cryopreserved and stored onsite, or transfused fresh to the patient.
Flow Cytometry and Cellular Therapies work hand in hand as one department within Haematology, working along side Haematology, Coagulation and Transfusion, with an opportunity for the successful member of staff to train in routine Haematology.
