Position accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is seeking a skilled and dynamic Media Manager to play a key role in shaping and delivering the Department’s media strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to manage high-profile communications that support both the community and Government priorities.
As Media Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a proactive media plan, ensuring the Department’s messaging is accurate, timely and aligned with organisational goals. You will identify and manage media risks, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the Department and Government while providing clear, responsive communication.
In this role, you will manage media enquiries, ensuring responses meet strict deadlines and adhere to approved messaging standards. You will also represent the DTP Media team in working closely with ministerial advisers, senior executives, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across Government and industry.
A key part of the position involves leading and supporting your team to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes. You will foster a positive, inclusive and flexible team culture that prioritises engagement, collaboration and safety, while enabling individuals to perform at their best.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in media management, excellent judgement in managing sensitive or high-risk issues, and the ability to develop effective relationships in a fast-paced and high-profile environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on some of Victoria’s most significant transport and planning projects while leading a motivated and capable team.
