About the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA)
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services in Victoria. VECRA works to ensure the safety, wellbeing and development of children through effective regulation, compliance, quality assessment and continuous improvement across the early childhood sector.
VECRA plays a critical system management role, providing guidance, oversight and assurance to the sector while supporting high-quality early childhood education outcomes for Victorian children and families.
About the Role
An exciting new opportunity is available for a highly motivated leader with strong attention to detail and a passion for meaningful and impactful work.
The Manager, Workforce Suitability role manages the functions regarding early childhood worker suitability and associated regulatory functions, including the identification and taking of appropriate regulatory action to respond to individual misconduct or where individuals pose a risk to children.
The role requires a highly experienced manager with expertise in risk-based decision making, who can develop robust procedures, workflows and governance arrangements to ensure timely and high-quality decisions relating to suspensions, prohibitions and other regulatory actions.
The successful candidate will also ensure operational oversight and integrity of the Early Childhood Workforce Register (the Register) by designing and executing compliance and assurance programs to improve the accuracy and completeness of data and ensuring operational embedment of the Register.
In addition, the role will be expected to lead initiatives to build sector awareness and understanding of worker suitability obligations under the National Law and related child safety obligations, particularly supporting industry understanding and implementation of Child Safe Standard 6 and practices that promote child-safe recruitment, induction, training and ongoing oversight of workers and volunteers in the Early Childhood sector.
They will have the ability to foster a positive culture and collaborate with investigators, regulatory operations, legal, intelligence and policy teams to ensure worker related matters are promptly identified, assessed and actioned in a timely and risk-based, child centred manner is vital as well as collaborating and deepening relationships with other co-regulators in the sector, particularly the Victorian Institute of Teaching and the Social Services Regulator.
The role requires the ability to make confident, timely and risk-based administrative decisions and to build a team with a culture of accountability, responsiveness, collaboration and integrity.
