DEECA is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager, Waste Emergencies to lead Victoria’s approach to waste service continuity before, during and after major emergencies. This is a high‑impact leadership role at the intersection of emergency management, public policy and the circular economy, supporting communities and essential services when they need it most.
You will provide authoritative advice to senior leaders, emergency management partners and government, while leading a small, high‑performing team delivering complex policy, programs and emergency response activities.
We’re looking for a collaborative and resilient leader who brings experience in public sector emergency management, the ability to translate strategy into action through effective program and project governance and an understanding of the waste, resource recovery and recycling sector.
You’ll be part of an organisation that plays a central role in Victoria’s emergency response and climate and environment agenda, with work that delivers real outcomes for communities. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work–life balance.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 May 2027. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
