The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian student's birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Senior Secondary Coordination and Delivery Branch in the Curriculum Division for an ongoing full-time position.
* Salary: $142,790 - $191,084 (Plus Superannuation of 12%)

About the Division
The Curriculum Division is responsible for the development, implementation and review of:
- the Victorian Curriculum F-10
- Senior Secondary, including: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major; the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC); the VCE Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs; international programs.
The Senior Secondary Coordination and Delivery branch, consists of the VCE & VPC Quality Assurance and Coordination, Senior Secondary Curriculum and Senior Secondary Delivery and Support Units who support the effective implementation and quality assurance of the foundation and senior secondary certificates, provide strategic leadership for the design, review, implementation and continuous improvement of the VCE, VCE VET programs and VPC curriculum.
Role Purpose
- Lead and manage a high-performing team to deliver high-quality services, while overseeing significant budget, resourcing and people management responsibilities.
- Drive and sustain a positive organisational culture by modelling behaviours aligned with the VCAA's vision and mission and the VPS values, and promoting a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace.
- Build and maintain respectful, collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
- Provide leadership in a dynamic environment by responding flexibly to shifting priorities, managing pressure effectively and ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Provide authoritative analysis and expert advice to:
- support evidence-based decision-making for VCAA management, the Board, staff and external stakeholders
- resolve complex issues through consultation, negotiation and sound judgement
- communicate and manage highly complex, contentious or sensitive matters requiring advanced negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Drive continuous improvement by responding innovatively to emerging strategic issues affecting the operating environment, and ensuring work aligns with relevant legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to strategic planning and be accountable for achieving established objectives, including the development and management of business plans.
- Analyse educational research, stakeholder feedback, policy developments and emerging trends to identify issues, opportunities and implications for curriculum policy across sectors and settings and provide evidence-based advice to the Executive Director, Directors, and VCAA Executive.
- Contributes to the overall success of the VCAA's work, going beyond own functions to support staff, colleagues, and the Board.
- Use high level expertise in the field and knowledge of structures, processes and culture of government, the education sector and the department to develop policies and new programs or project initiatives. Apply complex concepts drawn from non-related fields to address policy, program or other issues.
This role may require work outside standard business hours during peak operational periods to meet business requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Desirable: tertiary qualification in education or relevant industry
Essential: experience leading in complex multi-stakeholder environments
