The Role
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Audit and Assurance, the Manager Risk Services leads the delivery of high-quality risk and insurance advice and critical incident management functions to ensure departmental business continuity. The role drives continuous improvement initiatives to identify, respond to and address new and emerging issues impacting on departmental risk, assurance, business continuity and insurance, and provides authoritative advice to senior leaders to support sound decision making and compliance with government requirements.
Main accountabilities:
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the department's risk management framework and practices to ensure effective identification, assessment, management and monitoring of risks.
• Lead delivery of the department's General Insurance Program, including related policies and procedures, provision of specialist insurance advice and processing of insurance claims.
• Facilitate development and implementation of the department's business continuity framework, including business continuity plans, policies and procedures, and support critical incident management activities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders across Victorian Government and external agencies to influence outcomes on complex and sensitive matters.
• Provide high-level, timely and authoritative advice to the Minister, Secretary, executives and senior stakeholders on strategic risk, insurance and business continuity matters, including preparation of briefs, reports and submissions.
The Team
The position of Manager Risk Services forms part of the Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch within the Corporate Services Group. The Corporate Services Group delivers specialist functions that enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively, supporting the Secretary, Ministers and portfolio groups to meet legislative obligations and achieve strategic objectives. The Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch focuses on uplifting organisational efficiency and effectiveness through strategic projects, frameworks, assurance, risk and insurance support, and high-quality reporting and planning.
About You
You bring demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and maintaining risk, assurance, insurance and business continuity frameworks, with the ability to analyse and report on complex information and apply relevant standards. You have strong proj
ect management capability, effectively consulting with and influencing stakeholders, developing clear project plans, managing risks and issues, and delivering outcomes. You are skilled in influence and negotiation, building support and buy-in to achieve results in complex environments.
