About the Business Unit:
Corporate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) supports the Secretary to lead and manage the responsibilities and statutory requirements of the department. CSD leads key whole of department functions, including corporate functions, delivery of the department's data insights, analytics and modelling function, savings and organisational transformation. It also provides oversight of the department's strategic and operational performance, with a focus on using data to inform system strategy, advice to Government and operational oversight.
Evidence and Insights is tasked with supporting the Chief Operating Officer in leading the department's agenda in the delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing a strong evidence base for the development of effective policy and effective organisational management.
Evidence and Insights focuses on meeting the department's data needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. It is also responsible for providing end-to-end evidence-based policy support across the department and the reporting of data and research to the Victorian public through the Crime Statistics Agency.
About the Role:
The Manager, Research and Analytics leads, manages and supports a team who provide high-level expertise in quantitative data analysis, research, data visualisation and data linkage. The Manager is responsible for building strong partnerships with policy areas across DJCS to understand their information needs, and leading the development of data analytics and research products to meet these needs. Drawing on a wide variety of available justice and whole-of-government datasets, and by applying a variety of statistical methods, this role focuses on ensuring that policy across the Department is based on rigorous data and evidence.
The Manager leads a team working with protected level data and is required to ensure that the team's work is undertaken appropriately with regard to the Victorian Data Security Standards, relevant Privacy provisions and legislative requirements.
This position may require the successful applicant to obtain a negative vetting Level 1 security clearance.
