The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Manager Regional Preparedness to provide a critical role within Emergency Management.
About the Business Unit
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).
About the Role
The primary responsibility of the Manager Regional Preparedness is to manage and lead a team of regionally focussed Emergency Management (EM) Coordinators to work with regional EM partners and development of assurance, engagement and support programs within the context of emergency management operations. The Manager Regional Preparedness will also provide advice and support in the development, application and implementation of regional emergency management planning, practices and processes across the State.
Some of your duties will include:
- Drive workplace culture and practices that delivers on the vision of EMV, including:
- developing and implementing an annual business plan in line with the statement of direction and strategic priorities
- working closely with the team to ensure PDP goals are meaningful, measurable and align with the business plan
- providing a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and actively promote a positive and respectful culture across EMV
- managing and maintaining compliance with all governance requirements
- developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide strong leadership to, and build the capability of, the Regional Preparedness team through active management and interaction at both a team and individual level.
- Work closely and strategically with communities, agencies, business and local government in a ‘whole of sector' approach to identify major emerging policy issues and implement strategic improvement strategies that align with leading practice.
- Provide stewardship of the development and practise of interactive and consultative processes with government and non-government agencies and sector stakeholders to formulate, implement and review policy to improve the delivery of emergency management preparedness and other initiatives.

- Support the development, implementation, review, evaluation and improvement of strategic responses, policies and programs that govern the performance of regional emergency management.

- Demonstrated understanding and application of strategy development, ideally within the emergency management sector
- Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
- Demonstrated experience managing a range of stakeholders across a broad geographic re

Qualifications/requirements
- Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline is desirable.
